About the Children's Ministry Assistant position

The Ministry Assistant undertakes a broad set of administrative and clerical tasks, supporting the Ministry Partner or Director for the office, assisting in daily office needs, making travel and meeting arrangements, preparing reports, and maintaining appropriate filing systems.

The position is full time and requires 37.5 hours per week, usually Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Some seasonal overtime work, including weekends and travel to camp, will be required. The successful candidate must be an active member of a Southern Baptist church.

The ministry assistant should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize work using tools, like MS Excel and office equipment.

Ministry Assistant responsibilities are:

  • Arrange events, appointments and travels

  • Manage phone calls and correspondence

  • Assist in processing financial records

  • Attend meetings and take detailed minutes

  • Participate in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports

  • Organize contact lists and filing systems

  • Meet and support visitors

  • Collaborate with executive and senior administrative assistants to handle requests and queries from senior managers

Ministry Assistant requirements are:

  • Good practical experience with MS Office

  • Strong time management and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize work

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

  • College degree preferred
